Los Angeles, CA (Marzo 18, 2015) — Ravee Mathi Sundar only lasted 22 hands at the final table of the WPT® Bay 101 Shooting Star final table five days ago, exiting in sixth place when he ran a failed bluff against Taylor Paur. Paur called the all-in bet on the river with trip fives, and went on to win the title and more than $1.2 million.

Sundar and Paur met once again at another World Poker Tour® mesa final el miércoles at Thunder Valley Casino in Sacramento, California, and this time it was Sundar who was the last player standing, outlasting 379 total entries to win WPT Rolling Thunder. Sundar earned $266,857, which includes a seat into the season-ending WPT World Championship, and a pair of Monster® DNA headphones.

“I was very happy to finish sixth at Bay 101, that by itself is a great achievement,” Sundar said after the victory. “I’m just a beginner. I feel humbled to be a part of the big leagues.”

Sundar, 37, is a software engineer from Dublin, California. According to the Hendon Mob database, his two WPT final tables are the only two cashes on his live poker résumé.

Paur, who exited the WPT Rolling Thunder final in third place after a more than five-hour three-handed battle, was attempting to become the third player to win back-to-back WPT titles in Season XIII. As a consolation prize, the 26-year-old won $113,154 and the Columpio de California.

Sundar entered heads-up play against Jesse Rockowitz with a four-to-one chip advantage, and the match only lasted four hands. On the final hand, Rockowitz limp-shoved with king-nine, and Sundar called with pocket jacks. The wired pair held up, and Sundar was crowned the champion. Rockowitz, 29, earned $176,018 for his efforts.

Jeff Griffiths was the first casualty at the WPT Rolling Thunder final table, losing a coin flip to Paur on the 13th hand. Griffiths held a slight advantage with pocket sevens against Paur’s king-jack suited, but there was a jack on both the flop and the turn. Two hands later, Rex Clinkscales moved all in over a raise and a call with ace-eight, and Paur, the original raiser, called with ace-queen. The dominant hand held up, and Clinkscales hit the rail in fifth place.

Harrison Gimbel entered the final table as the chip leader, but was unable to retain his lead and exited in fourth place. Gimbel attempted to run a semi-bluff on Sundar, holding both flush and straight draws on the turn of a paired board, and Sundar called with a single pair of queens. The river was a blank, and Gimbel was eliminated.
