Televised $100K WPT Super High Roller to Run May 23 – 25; Tight Race Culminates with WPT Player of the Year

This Saturday, World Poker Tour returns to Bellagio in Las Vegas for the final event of Season X, the WPT World Championship. The prestigious finale boasts a $25,000 + $500 buy-in and runs May 19 – 26. As the culminating WPT Main Event to the historic 10th season of the World Poker Tour, the high-stakes action also will determine the winner in the close race for WPT Player of the Year.

The WPT World Championship features registration until the start of Level 12 on Monday, May 21. While players can enter this premier event well into Day 3, many poker pros will be in attendance from the start to take advantage of the acclaimed deep-stack tournament structure. This upcoming week of world-class poker at Bellagio will additionally include the televised WPT Super High Roller, which for the first time in WPT history will be broadcast as three stand-alone episodes on Fox Sports Net (FSN). This re-entry $100,000 buy-in World Poker Tour special event runs May 23 – 25 (registration is open until the start of Level 7 on Day 1) and offers players unprecedented national exposure.

“The prestige of this event is unmatched as whoever is left standing will have defeated what many consider to be the toughest field in all of poker,” said Steve Heller, WPT CEO. “Earning the right to be called WPT World Champion is poker’s crowning achievement and a career-defining moment.”

During the WPT World Championship, players will be able to enjoy a variety of entertaining off-the-felt activities at Bellagio as part of the World Poker Tour experience. On Day 1, WPT will be hosting drinks with the beautiful Royal Flush Girls starting at 10:00 p.m. at Lily Lounge. The following day, World Poker Tour will be presenting a special Sunday night dinner at Yellowtail for WPT Champions Club members. Later that night, a VIP Players Party will be held at The Bank Nightclub from 11:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m., with free entry and drinks for WPT Main Event participants.

The season finale also marks the televised return of Kimberly Lansing as WPT Anchor following a five-month maternity leave. The final tables of both the WPT Super High Roller (May 25) and the WPT World Championship (May 26) will be streamed online at WPT.com. Starting at 4:30 p.m. PT, WPT Live Streaming features rich graphics, hole-cards and expert analysis from Raw Deal Analyst Tony Dunst and renowned guest commentators.

In the tight race for WPT Player of the Year, Will “The Thrill” Failla takes a slight lead into the WPT World Championship. With significant POY points still to be awarded, this prestigious honor is truly up for grabs as more than 70 players are within one deep run of the title.

During 2011, Scott Seiver defeated a strong international field to win the Season IX WPT World Championship and the $1,618,344 first-place prize. Once again, poker’s top professionals are expected to compete in this year’s exceptional event. Among the confirmed players for the WPT World Championship are 20 Season X Champions, past WPT Players of the Year Daniel Negreanu and Jonathan Little, defending WPT World Champion Scott Seiver, the leaders in the Season X race for WPT Player of the Year and many famous professionals such as Tony G, Jason Mercier, Erik Seidel and Ben Lamb.
