Andy Black Doubles Through Gus Hansen

Apr 23, 2008

After some unknown preflop action, Andy Black moves all in for 245,000 more from the button. Gus Hansen considers the call from under the gun, counting out the amount of the call to see how it would damage his stack.

Hansen finally calls, showing [KhJh]. Black dominates him with [AsJc].

Black saw that he dominated Hansen, but in his excitement, misread their shared kicker. He thought Hansen needed a jack to bust him. (Hansen was actually looking for a king.)

The flop brought two jacks, and Black got up out of his chair, ready to leave. The final board showed [JdJs6s2d10d], and Black walked over to a few players to shake their hands, not realizing that the dealer was pushing the pot to his now empty seat.

Kenny Tran asks Black what he’s doing, and points out that he won the pot. Black looks at his seat, sees the pile of chips, and says, “Oh, I won?” His demeanor doesn’t change much, though he smiles as he walks over to a friend on the rail.
