Kansas City Chiefs fans felt like they were living a dream when the team made a miraculous comeback just over a month ago in Super Bowl LIV. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes rallied the team to a 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The win brought the city its first championship in 50 years and the poker-playing Hinkle brothers were there for every snap.

Blair and Grant are season ticket holders and won a lottery to purchase tickets to the game for $700 each. Their father, uncle, and brothers Mason (aka Uncle Ron) and Taylor also went to the big game.

“My dad I think paid a good amount of money to get lower level seats with my other two brothers,” says Blair, who’s making a deep run in the WPT L.A. Poker Classic on Day 4. “It was pretty sick. Grant and I were in the very top corner and they were down low.”

As longtime Chiefs fans, Blair says it was an unbelievable experience.

“The two weeks after the AFC Championship game leading up to everything, I was super pumped,” he says. “We took a 40-foot RV with 11 guys from Kansas City down to Miami and it was a blast.

“Gameday came and my stomach was in knots. I was no longer excited, I was anxious and nervous because it was finally here. Going into that fourth quarter after Mahomes threw that interception, we thought we were done. But Mahomes did Mahomes things.”

The Hinkles also attended the celebratory parade back home after the game.

“The whole city went nuts,” Blair says. “There were about a million people crowded around Union Station.”

While Blair may be a poker player and gambler, betting on his home team to win the Super Bowl was out of the question.

“I don’t bet on them unless they’re away,” he says. “But when I’m going to the game I don’t want to have any action on them because I don’t want to care – I just want them to win.”
